Union-approved candidate Jill Underly Elected Next Superintendent
(April 6, 2021 MILWAUKEE, WI) – President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO Stephanie Bloomingdale released the following statement on the results of Wisconsin’s 2021 Spring Election:
“It’s been a year since Wisconsin voters showed up in the beginning days of the pandemic to vote for new leaders to support a more equal and just Wisconsin. Today, Wisconsin voters continued the call for a better future for all by voting to elect union-endorsed candidate Dr. Jill Underly to lead our public schools out of the pandemic with a focus on equality and a strong, fully-funded public education system that supports every child, every day.
Union members got to work around the state in support of our endorsed candidates, joining virtual Wisconsin AFL-CIO phone banks to have vital one-on-one conversations to educate on the issues and turn out the vote for those who will support working people. At every level of government, our leaders must prioritize the rights and well-being of working people so we can bounce back better and create an economy that works for all of us.”
